Victoria is a magazine-style Wordpress theme with a classic feel, based on the DP Shiny Theme by Frazier Media. Posts are separated into two main columns with blog entries on the left and feature articles in the main top window and right-hand column.

The theme supports flickr thumbnails, includes a rotating header image, and the extensive footer with links and archives makes this an ideal theme for an Ezine or journal type website. This theme is brought to you ad-free.

The theme works with Wordpress 2.1 and was tested in Firefox, IE6 & IE7. Installation and configuration instructions are included in the download. Please follow them carefully.

Please also note that the original theme by Frazier Media was released with a disclaimer warning users that the theme was heavily customised and to use it at their own risk. While I have done my best to simplify the theme and make it more user-friendly and lightweight, alot remains to be done like adding widgets or customising the archives, but I simply do not have time to do that. If someone is kind enough to makes additions and clean up the code to make it standard compliant, I’d be really grateful.

    Hi Step, as I pointed out in the post, I simply do not have the time to make this theme Widget ready. It took long enough as it is to just release this version to the public. But if someone wants to have a go at it, that would be fantastic.

    I updated the flickr id and it works fine in other two themes but still not in Victoria, your theme is unique and very nice, i will try to fix this problem, by the way my installed WP is 2.1 with the plugin flickrRSS 3.2.

    Hi Manuel, you don’t need the flickr plugin, the Victoria has built in flickr support. You just need a flickr id and add that id to the ‘home.php’ file as per the instructions. Email me if you have trouble.

    I love this theme and have been able to customise the flickr id and the top photo; however my posts do not show up in the blog and features categories. I have a lot of categories but I updated about six posts to include the blog and features to do a test run and none of them showed up under the categories, they remain blank. Any ideas? Also, in some archives I do get similar errors to those above at the end of the post or embedded in the script, also not sure why. I know you are busy, so if you can’t get back to me, I will continue to troubleshoot. Really like the template and hoping to sort out the issues. Thanks.

    Hi, Andrew. I really appreciate this theme. Thanks for making it available. If I wanted to show my subpages (which seem to remain hidden in your them) on the parent pages with a similar style of sidebar list used on your full-page post views, could you suggest how to do this? Or anyone else?

    @ Beej & Manuel, I’m not sure what the problem with the flickr id is, it should work on WP2.1. Ultimatately I suggest removing the flickr photo bar altogether.

    wow, brand new.. :) i love the concept of certain categories to certain spots.

    i’m one of the many waiting for something widget ready or SBM ready, but i guess it’s a little too early… would love it if could somehow be notified if and when something comes by! :D

    I like how the theme looks, but the underlying CSS seems like a real hodgepodge :/ I know you were in a hurry to crank it out, but is there any way you can detangle the template code and CSS documents? (i.e. the unused div#gluebar in the beginning, and the entire document is held in the div#header).

    It looks really nice on the outside though. :)

    i’m tryin install this amazing theme, but my recents posts aren’t displayed on the homepage. Furthermore my images included into my posts aren’t displayed too.

    Hi great theme, one thing I noticed was that the archives and search page does not look as good in ie as firefox. In ie there is a large unused space above “seach box”, in firefox it lines up perfectly though.

    Hey,

    I was wondering this: is there a good place I could look to figure out the code so that the story to the right of the photo isn’t just a feature story, but always whatever story I published last. I like the organization below and would like the “blogs” to be on the left and the “features” to be on the right, but I’d like whatever is most recent to show up on top. Thanks!

    How do I remove the titles from the bottom of the front page? They appear when I have 7 articles and lists older articles with headline, comments and date. I’d like to remove that and replace it with a link to respective archives (one for blog and one for features).

    You gave me a nice idea :D, and I have implemented it by editing the home.php.

    Search the following line:
    $my_query = new WP_Query(’showposts=1&category_name=features’);

    and change it to:
    $my_query = new WP_Query(’showposts=1′);

    then you get what you want.

    Thanks for such a great theme! I just have a couple of problems that i can’t seem to solve.

    First, the main post excerpt doesn’t seem to be working for me. The main area displays the full length of the post instead the excerpt. How do i fix this?

    Lastly, alot of weird characters are displayed in my posts after i installed Victoria. Eg: I’ ‘exterior’ Â.

    I really like your theme and look forward to the widgetized version. I do have one question…I am trying to figure out some code that would post an excerpt from the featured post rather than the entire post (I could just use the more tag but I would rather be able to use an excerpt).     I jumped the gun a bit and did figure out my question, but that led me to digging a bit in the css and I am now having problems changing the single post background to a very light grey and the text to black. The css is throwing me off a bit.

    Hi, love this theme, not much of a coder and I want to change the links title ‘Discover New Sites’ to say just ‘Link’ - boring I know.

    Anyone know how I can do this? I have no idea, people keep telling me to change the link category ‘blogroll’ but this is clearly nothing to do with it - so I thought I’d attempt to ask the author.

    Hi, I realllllly love this theme, but I might have to switch because 2 things arent working right:
    1. the subscribe button on the below pic, wont work, why is that? some other versions of this site have it working and it works on my other blog when i switched to this theme to check,
    2. the footer wont work on my ‘home’ does on my other pages, why is that?
    Hope I can get some help here, since I relly spent ages to find the perfect theme already and yours is it!

    ok resolved most things
    like the colors etc
    but whyyyyy on my home page is the footer not there, it is on all the others,
    plus, when i search the web for this theme in use, allll of the others are fine on the home page with the footer there.
    It works on my pages fine.
    It doesnt work on any of my 3 blogs, so its not just my plugins since they are all diff, is it a wordpress 2.3 issue?
    Anyone else getting this prob????
    Its very annoying.

    Still no luck on sorting the footer out, did a brand new wordpress install on a new directory to see if it was anything i had done wrong but it still came up with the homepage without the footer there but the other pages have it. Anyone know why?
    Hope someone has a fix.
